Understanding how Mining Pool Referrals work

How Mining Pool Referrals Work

The Luxor Mining Pool Referrals system involves two key parties:

  • Referee: A user who generates a referral code. When new users (referrers) sign up using this code, the referee earns a percentage of the pool discount rate that would have otherwise been collected by Luxor. These earnings are credited to a designated subaccount.
  • Referrer: A new miner who enters a referral code during signup. Instead of Luxor collecting the full pool discount rate, a portion is redirected to the referee.

Managing Referral Codes

Referral codes are created and managed at the workspace level. You can view all the referral codes associated with a workspace by navigating to the workspace page and then going to the referrals tab. From the referrals tab, you can:

  • View a list of all active referral codes, along with details for each code:
    • Percentage of the referrer's pool discount rate earned by the referee as referral rewards
    • Expiration date (1 year from creation)
    • Usage count
    • Total revenue earned
    • Destination subaccount for earnings
  • Create new referral codes, specifying the code and the associated subaccount
  • Delete referral codes that are no longer needed
  • Track referral earnings

Entering Referral Codes

During the signup process, new users have the option to enter a referral code. When a valid referral code is provided, the revenue-sharing mechanism is activated for that user.
