LED Behavior

Learn about how the LEDs work on LuxOS

This guide explains the behavior of the Control Board LED indicators on your miner. These LEDs provide real-time feedback on the status of your device, helping you diagnose potential issues and track performance.

LED Behavior Overview

Startup & Shutdown

  • During Bootup: Both Red and Green LEDs will remain solid ON for a couple of seconds. This serves as an LED self-test and indicates the miner is in an initial state with no errors.
  • During Shutdown: Both LEDs will turn OFF when the miner fully shuts down or while it restarts.

Normal Operation

  • Curtailed: Both Red and Green LEDs are solid ON when sleeping.
  • Hashing: The Green LED will display a heartbeat blink pattern, and the Red LED will be OFF.
  • Waking Up from Curtailment: The miner transitions from curtailed to active hashing, and the Green LED heartbeat starts.

Network & Pool Issues

  • No Pools Configured and/or No Network Connection: The miner will blink the Red LED.

Error States

  • Critical Errors (e.g., fan failure shutdown, over-temperature shutdown, miner unexpectedly not hashing or unable to hash at all): The miner will blink the Red LED.

Locate Miner Functionality

When activating the Locate Miner feature, the Red LED blinks at Bitmain's standard rate, which is faster than the state when an Error is blinking. The Green LED remains in its current state.

IP Detect Feedback

When pressing the IP Detect button, the Red LED blinks fast 5 times, then clears back to its previous state. The Green LED remains in its current state.

This LED system ensures that users can quickly diagnose their miner's status and respond accordingly.
