LuxOS Remote Install via VPN

Why Request A Remote Install?

A remote install may be required if Commander (opens in a new tab) does not support your miner's control board and/or stock firmware. You can visit our Miner Compatibility page to get information on currently supported miner models.

What Hardware Are Remote Installs Required For?

Remote installs are currently required for the following cases:

  • All CVITEK Control Boards. Must have Bitmain Stock Firmware dated before April 2024.
  • AMLogic, Xilinx, and BeagleBone Control Boards with Bitmain Stock Firmware dated from March 2024 or newer.

How Do I Configure My Network For Remote Install?

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection, on the network where your miners reside, is required for a remote install. We need the ability to directly ping the miner's IP address straight from our computers at Luxor. This is done through a VPN application, such as Tailscale, OpenVPN, ZeroTier, or any other similar service.

We have found Tailscale (opens in a new tab) to be the quickest and easiest method for setting up a VPN, especially for those who are not comfortable with networking.

You can follow Tailscale's Quickstart (opens in a new tab) and Subnet Router (opens in a new tab) guides to install, set up and configure your Tailnet so that your miners can be pinged through Tailscale.
